The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Lagos Chapter, on Thursday, 9th October 2025, held its chapter election at the SWAN Secretariat, National Stadium, Surulere, where Ambassador Olatutu Omobolanle Oladunni and other members of the executive were re-elected to continue steering the affairs of the association.
Before the commencement of voting, the existing executives were formally dissolved to pave the way for the re-election process, which was conducted in a transparent and credible manner.
According to DAILY NEWSTAP, the election, supervised by the Chairman of the SWAN Electoral Committee (SWANECO), Sir Victor Enyinnaya, KSP, was also witnessed by legal practitioners, police officers, and other stakeholders.
At the end of voting, Amb. Oladunni was re-elected as Chairman, while Taiwo Adelu retained his position as Vice Chairman, Bello Omotunde was re-elected as Secretary and Chinedu Nicholas returned as Assistant Secretary.
In the same vein, Ilesanmi Motunrayo was re-elected as Treasurer while Karonwi Monsuru retained his position as Welfare Officer.
The election was described as peaceful and transparent, with members commending the conduct of the SWANECO and the orderly participation of delegates.
In her remarks, Ambassador Olatutu Oladunni expressed excitement and gratitude to members for their trust and the peaceful conduct of the election. She reaffirmed her commitment to promoting sports in diversity inclusive of sports travel, commercialization, diplomacy, tourism, arts, culture, and security.
She appreciated members, observers, and the electoral committee for ensuring a successful process, assuring that the Lagos chapter would continue to uphold professionalism, integrity, and unity among sports journalists.
